How Do AI Search Engines Work in 2026? The 6-Step Pipeline
An AI search engine doesn't just match keywords. It reads your question, pulls evidence from the web or its own index, and writes an answer with a large language model.
Sometimes it shows citations. Sometimes it doesn't.
A traditional search engine returns ten blue links. An AI search engine returns one synthesized answer, built from multiple sources. That answer changes every time you ask.
