What the extension sends us

• Your search query. When you search on Google, the query (plus its country and language) is sent to our API so we can return related questions, keywords, and trend data for it.
• An anonymous install token. A random identifier created when the extension is installed, used for abuse prevention. It is not tied to your name or email and does not identify you.
• Interaction events. Which sidebar tabs, keywords, and buttons you click inside the extension, so we can improve the product. This never includes your browsing activity outside the sidebar.
• A coarse, hashed IP. Used only for rate limiting. We do not store raw IP addresses from extension requests.
• Extension version and install country. Sent once at install so we know which versions are in use.

If you sign in to Answer Socrates

Optional paid features (running a full scan, showing search volumes) use your existing answersocrates.com session. Those requests are tied to your account exactly as if you had used the website: full scans are saved to your search history and credits are deducted from your plan. The extension never sees or stores your password — sign-in happens on answersocrates.com only.

What the extension never collects

• No browsing history. The extension only activates on Google search results pages and supported AI chat sites (ChatGPT, Claude), and only the terms described on this page are sent.
• No page content. The “Related” tab reads Google’s own related-searches links from the page you are already viewing, entirely inside your browser — that data is never transmitted to us.
• No passwords, form inputs, or keystrokes.
• No data from any website other than Google search pages.

On AI chat sites

On ChatGPT and Claude the extension shows search-demand data for the topics you chat about. To do that, it sends us two things: the topic of a prompt (a few keywords derived from it in your browser — not the full prompt), and the search queries the AI itself displays when it searches the web. Your conversations — the messages and the AI’s replies — are never read beyond that and never transmitted. You can switch either site off at any time from the extension’s toolbar popup.

What stays on your device

Your keyword Collection (keywords you tick and save) and your sidebar settings are stored locally in your browser’s extension storage. They are not sent to our servers.

How we use the data

Data from the extension is used to provide the service, prevent abuse, and understand aggregate usage so we can improve the product. We do not sell it, and we do not use it for advertising. Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store Limited Use requirements.

Retention and removal

Uninstalling the extension stops all data collection immediately and deletes everything stored on your device. Anonymous telemetry is kept only as long as needed for the purposes above. To ask about or request deletion of data linked to your install, email [email protected].

If this policy changes materially, we will update this page and the effective date above before the change takes effect.
